I've been eyeing this scent for a while now. The delicate, floral-citrusy perfume, Magnolia Nobile by Acqua di Parma, includes notes of bergamot, lemon, citron, magnolia, jasmine, rose, tuberose, sandalwood, patchouli, vetiver and vanilla. It always smells fresh and reminds me of the early days of summer, before the suffocating humidity of the city takes over. M gifted it to me quite unexpectedly the other day, as part of a care package he put together. I was quite impressed by his spontaneity and generosity. Also included in the package were several fancy candy bars from Eataly, which I'm munching on as I write.
It's interesting to think about signature scents, beauty, and the connection between what you wear and how you are perceived. While reading about who else wore scents by ADP (Audrey Hepburn, Cary Grant, and apparently, Kate Moss), I came across a list compiled by a woman who was hoping to obtain some of the beauty of the wearers by spraying the same scent. I think that is what a lot of us aim to do when we're flipping through the pages of Vogue, Elle, etc. The thought is, if I wear that same outfit, hold the same bag, get the same haircut, somehow, I'll magically become her. If I'm honest with myself, I do that all the time, especially regarding hair styles. It's always a little bit of a shock when I see the haircut I wanted on my own face, which didn't actually become any different with the new style.
Regardless, I'm happy to have my own signature scents (I'll post about my winter fragrance of choice another time), not borrowed from any celebrity idol, but based on who I am, and what best accentuates me.
What's your scent, and how did you discover it?
